About Sam Comery

Sam Comery is a New Zealand actor best known for playing Éothain, a young boy of Rohan, in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Éothain appears in the film as one of the Rohirric refugees fleeing to Helm’s Deep, a character created specifically for the film and not present in Tolkien’s original novel, reflecting the way Jackson’s adaptation expanded certain scenes to heighten the emotional stakes of the Rohan storyline.

As with many of the younger performers cast in supporting roles throughout the trilogy, Comery’s involvement came during the production’s extensive years-long filming schedule in New Zealand, which drew on a wide pool of local acting talent to populate Middle-earth’s many kingdoms and peoples. Though his screen time was limited, his role forms a small but memorable part of the trilogy’s depiction of Rohan under threat, contributing to the emotional weight of the Two Towers’ refugee storyline.

Comery’s connection to one of the most celebrated film trilogies ever made has ensured his continued recognition among dedicated Lord of the Rings fans and collectors, particularly those with a deep knowledge of the film’s extensive New Zealand-based supporting cast.
