Peter Lyon is a New Zealand swordsmith, prop maker, and model maker whose craftsmanship helped define the weaponry of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Working within Weta Workshop, Lyon became renowned for hand-forging many of the swords, blades, and bladed weapons carried by characters throughout Middle-earth, contributing to the trilogy’s reputation for exceptionally detailed and historically informed prop-making.
His work extended beyond Jackson’s productions to other major films, including Disney’s live-action Mulan, reflecting his standing as one of the most respected weapon-makers working in film production today.
