Before you ship

You are responsible for arranging the shipment and entering complete and accurate customs information. Your item is not being sold to Pioneer Signings. It is being sent temporarily for an autograph/signing service and will be returned to you after the service is completed.

Incorrect or incomplete customs information may cause import VAT, duty, carrier fees, delays or the return of your parcel. If you are uncertain, contact your carrier or a customs broker before dispatch.

Essential customs wording

Customer-owned collectible temporarily exported to the United Kingdom solely for an autograph/signing service. No sale or transfer of ownership. The item will be returned to the original owner after the service is completed.

Carrier forms differ. Choose the option closest to temporary export for service or processing, or choose Other and add the wording above.

Do not describe the shipment as:

  • A sale
  • A gift
  • Goods purchased by Pioneer Signings
  • Returned Goods entering the UK

Complete the customs information accurately

Description

Describe the physical item specifically. Include its manufacturer, character or model, material, existing signatures and any authentication or serial number.

Value

Declare a genuine, supportable fair market or replacement value for the item in its condition when shipped. Include existing signatures where relevant. Do not use the signing-service fee, a nominal value or an artificially reduced value.

Country of origin

Use the country where the physical item was manufactured, not automatically the country from which you are posting it.

Commodity code

Use a code appropriate to the physical item. Pioneer Signings does not provide one universal code for all send-ins. Ask your carrier or a customs broker if uncertain.

Keep evidence and protect the item

  • Keep the customs invoice, label, tracking and any export declaration.
  • Photograph the item, packaging, condition, signatures, identifying marks and country-of-origin label.
  • Retain receipts, valuations or comparable sales supporting the declared value.
  • Use secure packaging and a tracked service suitable for the item value.
  • Check the carrier insurance exclusions for collectibles and autographs.

Customs charges and incorrect declarations

Pioneer Signings will not bear import VAT, Customs Duty, brokerage costs or carrier fees caused by the customer's shipping arrangements or customs declaration.

  1. We will contact you and, where appropriate, contest the charge with the carrier.
  2. If it remains payable, reimbursement must be agreed with you.
  3. Pioneer Signings will issue an invoice for the agreed reimbursement before paying the carrier.
  4. Outstanding customs or carrier amounts must be settled before the item is returned.

Customs delays may affect the item's participation in a signing.

High-value and unusual items

For valuable, rare, authenticated or previously signed items, obtain advice from your carrier or customs broker before dispatch. Pioneer Signings cannot guarantee that a carrier or customs authority will grant temporary-import relief.

This guide provides general practical information and is not tax, legal or customs-brokerage advice. Requirements vary by country, carrier, item and value. The customer remains responsible for the accuracy of their export and customs information.
