Leeanna Walsman is an Australian actress best known for playing Zam Wesell, a shapeshifting bounty hunter hired to assassinate Padmé Amidala, in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Walsman’s performance, culminating in one of the prequel trilogy’s more memorable early action sequences through the skies of Coruscant, introduced a striking new bounty hunter character to the Star Wars universe, and she went on to reprise the role in the video games Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
She was discovered for the role by Attack of the Clones casting director Robin Gurland while performing alongside fellow future Star Wars cast member Rose Byrne in a Sydney Theatre Company stage production. Beyond Star Wars, Walsman has built a substantial career in Australian film and television, including roles in the acclaimed film Looking for Alibrandi and the prison drama series Wentworth.
Her portrayal of Zam Wesell, though limited to a single film appearance, has made her a popular and recognised figure among Star Wars collectors interested in the prequel trilogy’s memorable bounty hunter characters.
