Mark Ferguson is an Australian actor best known for his dual role in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, appearing as the Elven king Gil-galad in The Fellowship of the Ring and, separately, providing the physical performance of the Witch-king of Angmar in The Return of the King. Though Gil-galad’s role was significantly reduced from Jackson’s original conception, with several of Ferguson’s scenes ultimately cut from the theatrical release, the character remains visible in the trilogy’s opening prologue depicting the Last Alliance’s battle against Sauron.
