Brad Dourif is an American actor whose long and varied career spans horror, fantasy, and prestige drama. He earned an Academy Award nomination for his film debut in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and has since become one of the most recognisable voices in horror cinema as Chucky, the killer doll at the centre of the Child’s Play and Chucky franchise, a role he has voiced continuously since 1988 across nearly the entire history of the series and its ongoing television continuation.
Dourif took on a very different kind of role in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, playing Gríma Wormtongue, the treacherous advisor who manipulates King Théoden of Rohan, in The Two Towers and The Return of the King. His performance as Wormtongue, by turns pitiable and repulsive, became one of the trilogy’s most memorable supporting turns.
